In-Depth Details About Created and Formatted Posters
Sirex Woodwasp
My take on a poster that brings awareness to a lesser-known invasive species. This wasp, native to Eurasia and Northern Africa, typically only targets already stressed or weaker pine trees but with higher population numbers will infest healthier pines of whole plantations. They utilize the trees for laying their eggs, therefore their larvae and a fungus-ridden mucus simultaneously bring the trees to their demise. This invasive insect has the capability to cause severe damage to the pine lumber industry in North America.
I wanted this poster to have a modern-retro feel so I utilized elements like a darker colored background with big, in-your-face images — typical of older environmental information posters. Muted, off-white was used for main text and individual backgrounds to draw the eye through the poster and provide contrast for the illustrations. An art deco border style was used to tie the words and illustrations together to provide a more cohesive, put-together look that gives a sophisticated feel. Minimal words and information were given to motivate the incentive to further investigate for oneself.
Each illustration was hand-drawn digitally by me since there isn’t many clear diagrams or photographs of the wasp itself or its larvae. Having illustrated images also allows me to unify the color pallet for a cohesive look. Each color used for the elements other than the illustrations were taken from the illustrations and adjusted slightly to provide the color pallet for the entire poster.
Treehoppers of Pennsylvania
This poster was made to showcase and explain the illustrations I created for The Treehoppers of Pennsylvania & Guide to Common Species of the Eastern United States by Matthew S. Wallace and to present my work at the Northeastern Natural History Conference (NENHC) 2025.

Cornell-Schuessler Research Poster
Commissioned by a summer research student at Cornell University, he requested visual improvements to the layout and overall design. All graphics and information were already present. I utilized these elements to create easier reading flow and provide visual emphasis.
